Customs And Trends In Flower Girl Dresses

No wedding is complete without a flower girl. As they walk down the aisle dressed like little princesses they immediately capture the hearts of all the guests. For a few brief seconds they are the center of attention, as they start off the bridal procession. Their moments on wedding center stage necessitate meticulous attention to the selection of their outfits.

The bride should be sure the flower girl’s dress matches the color scheme selected for the bridesmaids. While the look, and the color scheme are paramount, etiquette requires that the bride should consider affordability as the flower girl’s parents usually pay for the dress.

Among today’s brides, the most accepted colors for flower girl dresses include white or pastel frosted pink. Many brides will chose a flower girl dress that matches the wedding dress in fabric, style and coloring, and this is especially easy when the dress is white.

When the flower girl dress is not white, brides usually prefer a pastel color. Typical popular colors include ivory, light yellow, light frosted green, lavender or light blue. Pastel shades are popular because theyalso, not so striking as to take away from the focus of attention on the bride’s wedding gown.

Recent trends find flower girl dresses made with colors, other than white, pink or pastel. At an evening function for example, a flower girl dress might be made with silver colored fabric. Other choices might include velvet, black velveteen, blue green, and even shades of red. In cooler weather flower girl dress outfits will frequently come with a wrap or attractive jacket, to keep the girl warm.

Seasonal and holiday colors can be incorporated into the flower dress coloring, when the wedding takes place at one of these times. If it is a spring wedding, the flower girl might have a white dress with a green sash, a yellow and or green bow, and spring flowers. At Christmas time, the dress and or accessories can contain shades of green and red. A Valentine flower girl outfit might incorporate shades of red and pink. For all these occasions, a white dress need not change color at all. Instead, the sash can contain the seasonal coloring and be worn along with the dress. The seasonal coloring can also be reflected in the color of the flower girl’s hat, shoes, and flowers, which are to be carried down the aisle.

Many dress styles are found online. Most brides still prefer traditional looking flower girl dresses, which match the colors of the bridal party. A flower girl dress that makes the flower girl look like a special little princess is always likely to be a success. A flowing dress is popular, and the effect can be enhanced with Tulle netting.

The flower girl outfit is made complete with the addition of matching accessories. The flower girl’s shoes, stockings, earrings, bracelets, basket, hair band, ribbon and colored sash should all be selected, with color scheme in mind, both to match the flower girl and the party. Online stores that sell special occasion dresses also sell matching accessories.

When wedding day comes, the flower girl will feel like a little princess as she walks down the aisle in her flower girl dress and matching outfit, and the onlookers will find her adorable. Mmatching colors will make a great lead in to the rest of the procession, and it will make the flower girl feel that she is an important part of the entire bridal party.
