Normally people say to learn any musical instruments you will have to start young but that is not true at all it is never too late to learn any instrument. Depends on which instrument you are learning but if you are just learning to play pianos , I suggest you learn from an expert other than take online lessons. First thing you need to decide if you want to learn through acoustic piano or digital piano. Many experts have said that acoustic are always the best way to start no matter which musical instrument you are learning. This is simply because it generates the original sound. Acoustic piano keys have a heavy touch, so when you start playing these pianos your fingers will get use to playing light touch pianos such as keyboard pianos. The only disadvantage I see of acoustic pianos is the size, whether it will fit in your house or not.
If you start learning with digital pianos, the disadvantage you get is because the key for digital piano is lighter you will find it difficult to play the acoustic pianos because of its heavy keys.
Another advantage acoustic piano has over digital piano is that, it has a long life and if something does go wrong while playing digital piano then to fix it, it will can be quite expensive. Digital pianos are mostly used by musicians and recording artists. They can use it to create background music and do all sort of other things.
I started playing piano since I was 4 years old. I was given an acoustic piano to start on and after 23 years of playing acoustic I can definitely say that it generates a clear and original sound that the digital piano won’t be able to generate, for me acoustic sound is like an art. Doesn’t matter if you are playing acoustic guitars or acoustic pianos it’s never too late to start but it is wisely said that start early if you can.
It all depends on why you are learning to play the piano. Is it to educate your child? Is it for recording your songs? Is it for just to have a play about with your mates?
